In April of 2021 I participated in an exchange with the African Street Artist, Njabulo Hlophe, who goes by the name Dirty Native. He discussed the difficulties growing up in Africa and the dangers of Johannesburg. He displayed some of his street art. After the exchange we were encouraged to find street art where we live and share it. I sent Njabulo and Nicole (from the African-Edu team that hosted the exchange) an image from High Springs, Florida depicting the Springs we are known for. While I learned A LOT about African street art, this exchange also helped me find a local event that was happening in High Springs called the Walldogs, whom came to High Springs and painted murals throughout the city. Walldogs Mural Festival To Honor High Springs History In 2022 - WUFT News. Without this exchange, I likely would not have learned of Njabulo nor the local Walldogs event.
