In 2021, I participated in the IREX Global Solutions Challenge. Working alongside students from Santa Fe College in Gainesville, FL and Al Hussein Technical University in Jordan, we competed against 27 binational teams from 42 institutions in the U.S., Jordan, and Iraq. We created an online platform, Paragon, that utilizes block chain technology to support food industry stakeholders in optimizing their supply chain through transparent data exchange in order to increase environmental and economical sustainability. I'm proud to say my team took 1st place and won a $2,000 grant from the Stevens Initiative to further develop our product.
This challenge was difficult as we were doing this remotely due to Covid, but it was a great experience. I was very impressed with the skills of the entire team. This challenge helped me sharpen my leadership and communication skills, while also allowing me to learn about the culture of the Jordanian students. Experiences like this are an invaluable introduction into the global workforce. This is an experience I HIGHLY recommend every student participate in.
